Preterm Labor

Preterm LaborPreterm labor is a rare but serious complication.  Preterm means 3 or more weeks before your due date.  If you have any of the following signs of preterm labor, please mention it to your physician:

  • Cramping, like persistent menstrual cramps
  • Tightening and relaxing of the tummy in a pattern, lasting 40-60 seconds each
  • A change in vaginal mucous
  • Any vaginal bleeding

Preterm labor can be caused by urinary tract infections.  Your urine will be screened for infection at every visit.
